About Bishop Ranch Regional Preserve

Bishop Ranch Regional Preserve (BRRP) is a 444-acre, widely popular regional park situated atop the ridgeline of San Ramon. Easily accessible from nearby residential areas and equipped with trails spanning varying degrees of difficulty, BRRP has become an East Bay gem for those seeking both leisurely strolls and rugged hikes alike. The preserve lies within the jurisdiction of EBRPD and offers no further amenities other than its stunning vistas at trailheads throughout this picturesque landscape.

Bishop Ranch preserve is a nature lover's paradise. With three scenic trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, visitors can explore the rugged terrain without having to worry about facilities like picnicking or camping which is not available onsite. Unfortunately, it should be noted that due to its undulating slopes, this area is unfortunately inaccessible to wheelchair users.

In August 2015 the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) made a monumental move towards creating greater park access and environmental connectivity within their region. This initiative progressed with EBRPD acquiring a 362-acre tract along Calaveras Ridge for $2 million dollars that connect Bishop Ranch to Dublin Hills Regional Park-creating an immense trail stretching from Sunol to Lafayette through six regional parks. Formerly owned by the Wiedemann family who had been raising cattle here since 1860, this new addition includes local landmark Harlan Hill which stands at an awe-inspiring 1,719 feet in elevation; however, its public uses remain uncertain until after the completion of land use plans set forth by EBPRD is finished first.
